The European Language Portfolio
The European Language Portfolio (ELP) is a document in which those who are learning or have learned a language - whether at school or outside school - can record and reflect on their language learning and cultural experiences.
At AVO-Bell you have the unique opportunity to purchase a European Language Portfolio , stamped by OPTIMA as proof that you have received the document from a language centre fulfilling the criteria for European standards of education.
The document is accredited by:
- The Council of Europe (CE)
- The European Association for Quality Language Services (EAQUALS)
- The Association of Examining Centres for languages in Europe (ALTE)
The document can be of use to you:
- in applying for work or a course of study anywhere throughout Europe.
- as a realistic self-assessment of your knowledge and practice gained in learning a foreign language.
The European Language portfolio is composed of three parts:
- A Language Passport- which its owner regularly updates. A grid is provided where his/her language competences can be described according to common criteria accepted throughout Europe and which can serve as a complement to customary certificates.
- A Language Biography- describing the owner's experiences in each language and which is designed to guide the learner in planning and assessing progress.
- Dossier- examples of personal work can be kept to illustrate one's language competences.
